Homemade Cards-A Special Touch

A Homemade Card, like ones I make with my Cricut Machine, gives recipients a special feeling, they know I planned ahead for their special occasion and took the time and care to create a greeting card just for them. I have sent out many of the cards featured in this blog and I get wonderful thank you's back, expressing how nice it was to receive a beautiful and homemade card.

Christmas Themed Scrapbook layouts for Thursday, April 14, 2011

Note: For some reason this didn't post yesterday, so here it is-enjoy.
It is hard to imagine or even think about Christmas just when the weather is getting warmer; however, as I continue to make a scrapbook for my daughter and for my scrapbooking blog, I had to dive in, search for Christmas Trees; get into the mood.

Layouts for scrapbooking are so much fun to create, especially if you have the supplies to scrapbook including scrapbooking papers, embellishments, and scrapbooking pens to make page layouts.

Specifics

  • Cartridges: Simply Charmed and Winter Woodland
  • Pressure: High
  • Speed: Medium except with the "sparkly" paper I used Max
  • Blade: 2
  • Paper: Mat Stack Brights by DCWV and the Green Sparkly scrapbooking paper is Rodeo Drive.
Both of these papers are a heavier weight, for the intricate ornaments and word sentiments.
Step by Step

Step 1:Season's Greetings: Winter Woodland cartridge. Size 2". Cut one White <SeasGrtg>, page 63, Keyboard key only. Cut one Green Sparkly (Max pressure) <SeasGr-s>, Shift & Keyboard Key. Cut one Red (back to High pressure), Shadow/Blackout Key & Keyboard Key. Cut one White, Shift & Keyboard Key, this peeks through openings in letters.

Step 2: Assemble and adhere the Seasons Greetings sentiment- From bottom to top, green sparkly, White Shift/keyboard key cutout, Red, and on top the Intricate White cutout. My picture doesn't show the top layer so you can see the "peek through" layer.

Step 3: Ornaments: Simply Charmed Cartridge, page 62. Size 3/4" Cut three to four of each, depending on how many you wish to adorn the trees. For each ornament: Cut one <Ornament> using shift & keyboard key. Cut one <Ornament> using Layer 2 key, Shift & keyboard key. Cut one <Ornament> using shadow key, shift & keyboard key. Assemble and adhere the ornaments before placing on the trees, shadow on bottom, ornament, then small bar across the middle of the ornament. I changed up the colors between red top and white top layers.

Step 4: Trees: Winter Woodland Cartridge, page 72 (thin tree). Size 6". Cut two White <3dTr1-s> using Shadow/Blackout, Shift, and Keyboard Key. Cut two Green <3dTr1-s> using Shift & Keyboard Key. Page 73 <chubby tree). Size 4 1/2". Cut two Green <3dTr2-s> using Shift & Keyboard Key, Cut two White <3dTr2-s> using Shadow/Blackout, Shift & Keyboard Key. Assembly and adhere the trees offsetting them a bit to show the white bottom layer.

Step 5: Adhere the completed ornaments to the completed trees. Spacing the ornaments in a way you like best.

Step 6: Photo Mats. Winter Woodland Cartridge, pg 33. The sizing will depend on your photo sizes. Mine with the exception of the larger photos on the bottom were all trimmed to a 3"x3" size. Cut one mat for each photo 1/2" larger than your photo, <Snowflk2-s>, Size 3 1/2" using Shift Key and Keyboard Key. Adhere the photo to the mat.

Step 7: for the scrapbook layout background I chose a Red heavy weight cardstock and adhered it to the base cardstock.  This gives the layout for scrapbooking more weight.  Adhere the photos/mats first, spacing them as shown.  Next adhere the trees as shown.

Step 8: Tree Toppers.  I used  self-adhesive star then place a self-adhesive gem in the middle of the star.

Step 9: Funky reindeer Acrylic stamps for an embellishment.

Step 10: Journaling is always important, noting the date and event.

Finished!   A fun and memorable scrapbook page with a Christmas Theme.
