Homemade Cards-A Special Touch

A Homemade Card, like ones I make with my Cricut Machine, gives recipients a special feeling, they know I planned ahead for their special occasion and took the time and care to create a greeting card just for them. I have sent out many of the cards featured in this blog and I get wonderful thank you's back, expressing how nice it was to receive a beautiful and homemade card.

Congratulations! Card-Easy to Make with the Cricut

WOW...I am so far behind with everything since getting back from California.  One card done but hopefully next week I'll be back on track.  Thanks for your patience.

It is graduation time or maybe time to congratulate somebody! Students are graduating from high school and college. My best friend's son was graduating and I knew I wanted to make a memorable and special graduation card for him. Nothing frilly and flowery was needed for this graduation card as the card was for a young man.
My Cricut Personal Cutting Machine was put into use and in no time I was able to make a really nice special card for this special person.

I used a Cricut Cartridge that I just purchased called Stamping. This is the first cartridge I have purchased that has no booklet or box, just the template, cartridge, and a flyer included. It's the perfect cartridge when you want to cutout a special sentiment from your scrapbooking cardstock. Included are sentiments such as: Dream, Congrats, Reunion, Happy Birthday, Hello, and many handy sentiments.

Also included are fun creative shapes to cutout and embellish your card or scrapbook layout. I also used my trusty Don Juan Cricut Cartridge; this cartridge has single letters and numbers along with popular sentiments to cutout.

Specifics

  • Card Size 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Cricut Cartridge: Stamping
  • Cricut Cartridge: Don Juan
  • Cardstock from DCWV-The Rustic Collection
  • Pressure: Max
  • Blade Depth: #2
  • Speed: Medium
Step by Step
Cut out your piece of cardstock for the base of the card, measuring 4" x 5 1/4" and adhere to the card
Stamping Cartridge: Cut one <Congrats>, Size 1" using the Shadow and Keyboard key. This will give you the bottom larger layer.
Stamping Cartridge: Cut one <Congrats>, Size 1" using the Blackout and Keyboard key. This will give you the middle layer.
Stamping Cartridge: Cut one <Congrats>, Size 1" using just the keyboard key. This will give you the top layer.
Don Juan Cartridge: Cut one <Snowflks>, pg 73, size 1 1/2" using the Under Pressure and Keyboard key. This will give you the top layer.
Don Juan Cartridge: Cut one <Snowflks>, pg 73, size 1 1/2" using the Under Pressure Shadow and keyboard key. This will give you the bottom larger layer.

Don Juan Cartridge: Cut one <You Did It>, pg 73, size 1 1/2" using the Under PressureShadow and keyboard key. This will give you the bottom larger layer.
Don Juan Cartridge: Cut one <You Did It>, pg 73, size 1 1/2" using again the Under Pressure and keyboard key. If you want a middle layer, this will give you one cut the same size as top layer.
Don Juan Cartridge: Cut one <You Did It>, pg 73, size 1 1/2" using the Under Pressure and keyboard key. This will give you the top layer.
Adhere the bottom layer of Congrats to your card.
Adhere the middle layer of Congrats on top of the bottom Congrats on your card.
Adhere the top layer of Congrats.
Adhere the bottom and middle layer (if you chose to cut one) of "You Did It" to your card.
Adhere the top layer of "You Did It" to your card, offset just a tiny bit lower if you chose to cut the middle layer.
Adhere the bottom larger layer of the "Snowflake" to your card, then adhere the top "Snowflake" layer.
Finished!
