A Cute Baby's Mobile made with your Cricut

A Baby's Room Mobile

This week I found inspiration from my newest Cricut Cartridge:Nursery Rhymes.

This cartridge is so sweet; filled with images and sentiments to cutout from all of your favorite nursery rhymes. If you have little ones or gifts to give others, I would recommend this cartridge.
I decided to make a mobile featuring the "Hey Diddle Diddle" nursery rhyme. It required alot of cutting; however, a very easy to make project with my Cricut machine.

I was able to create two-sided cutouts which when adhered together are perfect for a mobile moving around. Unfortunately you cannot create a two-sided version of the sentiments.

Step by Step: The Little Dog Laughed

To create the "Little Dog Laughed..." i used a couple of unrelated cutouts from the Nursery Rhymes cartridge.  After cutting I carefully cut awat the Dog images. In hindsight, you could just 4x the Old Mother Hubbard image Cutout using Normal and Flip versions, then cut the dog image, but I used Dog A Bone and Mother Hubbard dog images.

These will serve as a finished cutout for the little dog sentiment. It fits perfectly.
Cut one <MthrHbrd>, Size 4", using Phrase and Mother Hubbard keyboard key. Cut one <MthrHbrd>, Size 4", using Flip, Phrase, and Mother Hubbard keyboard key. Cut the little dog cutout away on both and adheret to both sides of the finished adhered shadow cutout.

To Finish

CrossBar: Take two pieces of heavy cardboard, cut into strip and adhere together to form a crossbar for the mobile. If you choose, you can paint and decorate the crossbar.
Hanging the Cutouts: Punch a tiny hole in the center of each cutout then thread your material for hanging the cutout through. I used Thin Plastic Sewing Thread but a heavier thread can be used it will be seen more clearly too.
Hanging the Crossbar: I used a thin 1/4" ribbon to hang the mobile. With the poker from the Cricut Essentials Kit, create a hole in the center of the crossbar. Thread the ribbon through, make a knot and cut off the other end of the ribbon at the desired length for hanging. On each of the crossbar ends, use a strong tape and fasten four more pieces of ribbon. Gather the 5 ribbons ends, make a knot while making sure the crossbar hangs level.
Cutouts: Take each of the cutout shapes and sentiments and space them at different levels on the crossbar. To do this, you make a slip knot with the wire on each cutout. I tried to hang my sentiments at a different level than the shapes.
DONE!
It's a time consuming project but I think it is so special to keep or give as a baby gift. The Theme of this mobile can be changed to one of the other nursery rhymes too.
