Outdoor Fun in the Cold Winter

I am having so much fun creating the scrapbook that features my daughter's growing years. I have a ton of photos to choose from, and thankfully they are all in order. This is one of many scrapbook layouts that I am creating for my daughter's scrapbook.
The cold outdoors is featured in this layout. Living in the northeastern part of the United States, we are used to the weather always being cold. Some winters we have a significant amount of snow. If you go outside for fun times, usually the choices are sledding, building forts, skating, and hiking.
Black Mtn, overlooking Lake George, NY was the site of a hike that my daughter's Girl Scout troop went on. We bundled up, put on our sunglasses and trudged up the mountain.

Cricut DieCutting Machine
I am able to create many different, great looking frames for photos using my trusty Cricut personal die cutting machine.
I used a new cartridge: Stamping Cartridge.
Featured cutouts in this cartridge include some great phrases, frames for photos, and some really cute little animals and designs that can be cutout to use in a Cricut card or scrapbook layout.

Having my photos of family, children, and friends has given me so much subject matter for my layouts.

 The Cricut Die-Cutting Machine
Creativity soars with a Cricut at hand. Don't think that you haven't the patience or skill to create a scrapbook layout or a greeting card. You do!, with the Cricut.

Specifics
Cricut Cartridge: Stamping
Cardstock: Heavy Weight
Pressure: High
Speed: Medium
Blade Depth: #2

Hints
A heavier weight scrapbook cardstock is needed for this layout as the phrase and smaller birds come out much better.

Center Point photo cutting is easy and cuts out nice shapes for your photos. Simply press the Center Point button then center the cutting blade in the center of the area where you want to feature, such as the body of the person. The cutout shape will be done around the point you determined to be the center.

Photos and Frame Mats
Cut the frame to the size you want, then cut the photo next. This way your frame size is determined and the photo will fit. Make sure to cut the photo 1/4" less than the frame size. I used the Shadow button for a photo mat.

Step by Step
The photo frame/mat you cut should be 1/4" bigger than the photo itself.
The "base" keyboard key is the key which features the cutout picture you need.
Photo Frame Mats (This layout used three different shaped cutouts for mats)
Cut <CircSclp>, size 3 1/4" using the Blackout and Base keyboard key. This will cutout a 3 1/4" round scalloped frame.
Cut your photo, using the Center Point button, at a 3" size.
Cut <VctrnFrm>, size 4" using the Blackout and Base keyboard key. This will cutout a 4" rectangular victorian frame.
Cut your photo, using the Center Point button, at a 3 3/4" size.

Cut <SclpFrm2>, size 3 1/2" using the Blackout and Base keyboard key. This will cutout a 3 1/2" rectangular frame.
Cut your photo, using the Center Point button, at a 3 1/4" size.
Adhere each photo to the photo frame mat.
Bird
Cut one <Bird>, size 2 1/2" using the Blackout, Shift, and Base keyboard keys. This will cutout the middle bird layer.
Cut one <Bird>, size 2 1/2" using the Shadow, Shift, and Base keyboard keys. This will cutout the bottom bird layer.
Cut one <Bird>, size 2 1/2" using just the Base keyboard key. This will cutout the top bird layer.
I also cutout another <Bird> in a 1 1/2" size.
Bird on a branch
Cut one <BrdBrnch>, size 2" using the Blackout, Shift, and Base keyboard keys. This will cutout the middle bird layer.
Cut one <BrdBrnch>, size 2" using the Shadow, Shift, and Base keyboard keys. This will cutout the bottom bird layer.
Cut one <BrdBrnch>, size 2" using just the Base keyboard key. This will cutout the top bird layer.
Assemble and adhere the bird layers with the shadow, then blackout, then top layer.
Sentiment
Cut one <JustBcse>, size 3", using the Shadow and Base keyboard keys. This will cutout the bottom layer.
Cut one <JustBcse>, size 3", using the Blackout and Base keyboard keys. This will cutout the middle layer.
Cut one <JustBcse>, size 3", using the base keyboard key. This will cutout the top layer.
Assemble and adhere the sentiment together with the shadow, then blackout, then base layer on top.
Snowflakes (Flower)
Cut one <Flower1> size 1 1/2", using the Shadow, Shift and Base keyboard keys. This will cutout the bottom layer.
Cut one <Flower1>, size 1 1/2", using the Blackout, Shift, and Base keyboard keys. This will cutout the middle layer.
Cut one <Flower1>, size 1 1/2", using the Base keyboard key. This will cutout the top layer.
Assemble and adhere the flower together with the shadow, then blackout, then the top layer. Use the outer, middle, and dot from the top layer.

Arrange the photos and Cricut cutouts on the scrapbook cardstock.
Done!
